Rupster says "About the 2010 Reunion"

This is a long overdue post. So here it goes.

Its been sometime now that we've been planning an outing together. We've gone too many but the group never seems to be complete. This time around, the group was also not complete but those who never got to follow us all these while got to come along. Thus bringing in an all new experience.

After much of planning, we decided to pick Melacca as the destination. Looking at the fact that we wanted a place where we could have a good time and at the same time get good food along with it. Penang was too far because we all had limited time. So we choose Melacca instead. With Melacca we would be saving much time on traveling as well. So Melacca was THE place.

The first batch of us left in the afternoon while the second batch arrived at night. We had to leave earlier because of the checking-in. It was indeed a huge apartment. With 3 rooms and 2 baths. The apartment came in with the basic facilities. We even had two balconies. WOne was the hall balcony that was facing the main road. While the other balcony was at the kitchen side and this was partially facing the sea. Yes. The sea!!!

We've never really been to the beach side of Melacca. This time we got to though it was not a beach. But we manage to stand along the sea and get the fresh breeze of the sea. The first batch of us arrived early enough for us to prepare what ever was needed. We even had a short nap knowing that it was going to be a long night.

After the nap, we got ready for dinner. Since we knew Melacca roads a bit so it was not a problem at all deciding where and what we wanted to have. As we were just finishing dinner, the second batch arrived. Had to go and pick them up because of their uncertainty of the Melacca routes. So there we are, 2 cars, and 8 people gathered to rock Melacca.

Since it was late, we headed for supper and went back to the apartment. As expected the night was way too long that most of us lacked of sleep. After all, holidays are not really meant to be for sleeping right? But we all manged to get a short nap in the morning and were up 11 am to kick start our day.

Of course we needed energy because being in Melacca is all about walking to one place to another. So we headed for lunch at Ole Sayang *yeap the place again*. Rupster was glad that all of them liked the food. So after lunch we headed to Jonker's Street. Walked along the whole street. Stopped by for some cendol and ice kacang at the famous stop there.

After walking around Jonker Street, we headed towards the A'Famosa Monument. Some of them wanted to go over to the church for Mass because they would not be able to make it for Sunday Mass. So as the few of them went to church, the rest of us were just walking around until. As we were walking around we saw these small sort of stall where they were having a few types of snakes and iguana. People are allowed to snap a photograph with any of these reptiles for the fees of RM 10. They guys got a bit too excited for it and decided to take the challenge on. So we snapped a few shots there.

After that session, we still had more time. That when we came across the Melacca tourist bus. It only costs RM 2 to board the bus. The bus would take you to all the main attraction of Melacca. It was indeed a good ride. Bus was not to packed either. It was double-decker bus, and we being us of course took the upper deck! As we saw the places we were also busy cam-hoaring in the bus as usual!

Our bus arrived just in time as the girls finished church. It was getting late so we had a fast walk up the A'Famosa Monument. The time we reached up was almost the sun-set time. It was a great moment for pictures. Using that as a chance we snapped and snapped as much as we wanted to. We walked around, read the information provided about the place. Yes boring but would be helpful one day or rather!

The original plan was to go back to the apartment, refresh ourselves and then continue with dinner at the Portuguese Settlement. But it would be too late for dinner if were to do that looking at the fact that there were 5 girls to get ready! So we decided to just go ahead with dinner. Finding the place was not an easy task! We had maps to help us but it was just not a help at all. After 45 minutes of trying we decided to call for help. So thankfully the contacts were a great help to help us lead the way to the settlement.

We were not giving up either because we've been looking forward to have a meal there. One, because there was a lot of variety. Two, you don';t really get Portuguese food that easily around KL and if there was also it would not be the original taste. Third and most important point it was along the sea!!!

All the driving around for more than an hour in the car just to find the place was payed back with a great dinner. We choose seafood and by the end of the meal, we were all too stuffed to move around. So we walked along the sea and chit-chatted there for sometime before we headed back to the apartment.

Bck at the apartment we continued with the chit-chatting though we were all fighting against tiredness and lack of sleep. The second night too was a sleepless night. But we managed to squeeze time in just for a few hours of sleep before we left back for KL.

Third day also started off late. So we packed up all our stuffs, checked out and headed for lunch. Lunch for third day was just a simple meal becuase we were all still too stuffed with all the food and drinks we had all along the second day. Thus, it was rest time for the stomach.

Before heading back to KL, we stopped by at the Melacca Zoo. We've all been having the urge to got to the zoo for quite some time. So since we were passing by the zoo beofre heading to the highway, we stoped at the zoo. It was so nice to walk around seee animals that we've not seen for some time. It was tiring walking and the animals looked lifeless but it was the time and satisfied our urge of visiting the zoo.

Overall, it was good and very memorable trip. A trip that we have all been looking forward to for a very long time. For some of them, it was a short break away from books and assignments. We never really got to spend time like this together for a very long time. It was good catch up time and good bonding moments we all had together.

The planning was tough, but the outcome was great. Looking forwards for more to come. Not too soon but some day or rather we would make another memorable trip together!
